2012 Constituency Dinner
Pat Glass MP and other Parliamentarians are taking part in a campaign to raise awareness of Bowel Cancer from the 28th June to the 4th July.
Pat Glass MP said:
"Bowel Cancer a common cancer which kills almost half the people who develop it in this area. Few people talk about it - yet it is preventable and curable. I want constituents who develop bowel cancer to live."
Members of Parliament are leading a campaign - starting with Bowel Cancer Faster Diagnosis Week starting June 28 2010 - to encourage everyone in our constituencies to get to know the key symptoms, to get involved in the NHS screening programme for bowel cancer and to act quickly on key symptoms and screening.
The UK is among the slowest in Europe at being diagnosed with bowel cancer*.
Attached a Cut-Out-And-Keep Guide to the symptoms plus a cartoon poster showing how easy it is to take the NHS screening test - the test is being sent to people from 60-69 in most areas of the country yet over half the men throw it away.
Many lives have already been saved by the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening programme. Help me to save more in this area.
Pat is working with Lynn Faulds Wood, the former BBC Watchdog presenter who survived advance bowel cancer after a year's medical delay.
